CONSUMING YOUR PLACENTA
Your placenta can provide a rich source of vitamins, minerals and hormones that can boost physical and emotional well-being if consumed after the birth of your baby. Our complete service can create a range of remedies from your own placenta, providing a tailor made supplement for you at a time when you need it most.
We specialise in the creation of capsules and other preparations. We have been trained to offer an easy and modern way for new mothers to benefit from their placenta without the fuss of handling it themselves. We use a professional and safe technique to make capsules by dehydrating, and encapsulating your placenta shortly after birth.
'Amazing service for placenta encapsulation; from first point of contact Letty was very informative and responsive. Turnaround from collection to delivery was super fast and can't fault the service, would recommend to everyone!'

THE BENEFITS
The placenta contains a range of hormones (including oxytocin, hCG, hCS, progesterone, estrogens, relaxin and CRH) plus vitamins and minerals (including iron, vitamins B6, A, D, E, K, C and B complex). In addition, the placenta contains over 128 growth factors and placenta stem cells. Placenta stem cells are found only in the placenta and are collected after the blood from the umbilical cord is drawn. Stem cells can self-renew or multiply or develop into other types of cells and provide new cells for regeneration of tissue to aid healing. Placenta growth factors have been found to provide the following benefits which are highly relevant after delivery of a baby:
-
Anti-inflammatory
-
Pain relief
-
Regulation of the autonomous system
-
Improve circulation
-
Promote wound healing
-
Balance hormones
-
Improvement of intestine environment
-
Protease inhibition
For centuries, placenta has been used as a medicine in Eastern and Western healthcare. Different cultures have used placenta to treat a variety of conditions including burns and other wounds, degenerative diseases, fertility, rare genetic diseases, the menopause and metabolic conditions.
Today placenta is used in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, hair care products, health tonics, and food products and is ingested as well as used topically (on the skin). Many of the products we use contain placenta although it will often be labelled as ‘peptides’ or similar.
There is a growing trend for mothers to consume their own placenta for nutritional benefit. A recent study1 reported positive benefits associated with consuming placenta postpartum. Of 189 participants, the study team found the following benefits reported by new mothers:
-
Improved mood
-
Increased energy
-
Improved lactation
-
Alleviated bleeding
This evidence supports the wide belief that placenta can offer significant benefits at a time when your body and wellbeing may be depleted.

OPTIONS & PRICES
Placenta capsules
In the period following birth, placenta capsules may be beneficial for preventing and treating post-natal depression, balancing hormones, enhancing milk supply, combating fatigue and increasing energy. We use two methods of preparation for encapsulating placenta: the Simple (raw) method and the Steamed method.
Simple (raw) placenta capsules
In this method, the placenta is prepared according to raw food principles and is not heated or steamed before dehydration. After dehydration, the placenta is ground and made into capsules. Your placenta may produce between 80–200 capsules depending upon its size. Dosage in the first 4–6 weeks is 1–6 capsules per day. After 6 weeks, take as needed, which is usually 1–2 capsules based on your milk production, mood, energy levels, etc.
Simple placenta capsules should be stored in a cool, dark place.
Price £250
This includes placenta collection from your home or hospital, production of your placenta capsules and delivery to you.
Steamed capsules
The placenta is considered a powerful and sacred medicine, a ‘full of life force’ organ in China and has been documented as a healing medicine for all since 1578. Steaming the placenta prior to dehydration is part of the process for this placenta remedy. This process is used as an alternative to the simple preparation above, when requested. This method is reserved for your own personal preference or if there are some specific requirements to, such as meconium at birth. Parents using steamed capsules report a calming effect from this method.
Following the steaming process the placenta is dehydrated, ground and made into capsules. Your placenta may produce between 80–200 capsules depending upon its size. Dosage in the first 4–6 weeks is 1–6 capsules per day. After 6 weeks, take as needed, which is usually 1–2 capsules based on your milk production, mood, energy levels, etc.
